In North Philadelphia, youths are getting exposed to youth soccer courtesy of the four-year-old AC Fairhill program. It's emblematic, though not part, of a nascent regional push to reinvigorate the soccer in the city. As the soccer world turns its attention to Russia — where 32 teams will vie for World Cup glory from June 14 through July 15 — Philly locals who love the sport find themselves looking further into the future.

Since its inception, the Black Women in Sport Foundation BWSF has offered educational and athletic instruction to girls, with aparticular focus on those attending schools located in disenfranchised neighborhoods in the Philadelphia area. Equipment needed to participate in BWSF is provided to students. Our staff members are trained to work with youth from pre-k to high school.
