The issue of alcoholism in this community starts very young: MOGAI youth are more likely to experience discrimination, bullying, harassment and rejection than their straight peers, all factors that can lead them to turn to alcohol and other illicit substances as a coping mechanism. Young queer people who already have issues with the consumption of alcohol will not find relief in any city they go to, as gay bars are incredibly prevalent and only provide more opportunities to drink. The Common Good ethical approach can be used to solve this problem in an almost blindingly obvious fashion: for the greater good of the community as a whole, there must be safe, healthy spaces for all its parts to socialize and spend time in.
