
All week long, Vulture is exploring the many ways true crime has become one of the most dominant genres in popular culture. Darkness came early in the Bay Area in December, and with its arrival, the temperature fell precipitously. Meredith Curly Hunter, Jr. October 24, — December 6, was an year-old African-American teen who was killed at the Altamont Free Concert. During the performance by The Rolling StonesHunter approached the stage, and was violently driven off by members of the Hells Angels motorcycle club who had been contracted to serve as security guards.
