
The underwear company famous for the cleavage-enhancing bras that launched the business career of Michelle Mone is to cease trading. Ultimo, which became noted for its eye-catching advertising campaigns starring models including Kelly Brook and Helena Christensen, said it was shutting down its operations, leaving 11 workers facing redundancy. Baroness Mone, a Conservative peer, established MJM International alongside her husband, Michael, in and went on to create a variety of products under the Ultimo brand.
It is understood she was referring to Michelle Mone Intimates, a new bras and knickers retailer she plans to launch. The brand was famous for its cleavage-enhancing bras. Mone, known as Baroness Bra, could not be reached for comment but her decision to set up the new firm comes as the high-end lingerie market is growing in the UK and shrugging off the gloom on the High Street.

After being made redundant and having her second child, in October she decided, while wearing a very uncomfortable cleavage enhancing bra at a dinner dance, that she could create a better design. Her stated aims were to create a bra that was both more comfortable, and better looking, creating more cleavage. After three years of research, design, and development the company patented the Ultimo bra.
